The mine industry uses large amounts of process water in the different concentrating steps from ore to a concentrate. The content of dissolved elements and suspended particles varies over the year and with process intensity.

In Kiruna a correlation between the mineralogical and geochemical composition of the ore and the content of the process water, has previously been established. The content of process water influences the result of process efforts, e.g. the outcome of the flotation, filtering and product end quality.
