What is HLRC

Hjalmar Lundbohm Research Centre (HLRC) originates from the conviction that cooperation between university and industry can lead to outstanding research results within specific research areas.

At the same time it is important to understand and respect the underlying differences that rules the two fields of activities.

On one hand there is the freedom for the academic researcher and the academia as a whole to formulate and perform research in interesting research areas. On the other hand exists LKABs need to have specific areas of vital interest to the company thoroughly exploited.

As a result of said ambitions a foundation for the cooperation between Luleå Technical University (LTU) and LKAB has been formed.

The Foundation "Stiftelsen Hjalmar Lundbohm Research Centre"

The charter of foundation for HLRC regulates the administration of the 100 MSEK that was transfered from LKAB as well as the working conditions for the board.

The board of the foundation consists of four members, two from LTU and two from LKAB. The chairman of the board is appointed by LKAB .
